Calvary Christian School

Mission Statement

The mission of Calvary Christian School is to develop, with the family, a partnership that provides an affordable, Christ-centered, biblically consistent education that instills the vision and practice of Christian excellence in all areas of life, including academics, character development and service to others.

Our objectives in the education of your children are as follows:

1.To prepare children spiritually by instilling in them a love for the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Father and His Holy Spirit; to give them a personal sense of the responsibility to be all God wants them to be. (Colossians 1:12-22)

2.To prepare children to live successfully. (Joshua 1:8)

3.To encourage them to think clearly, logically and independently. (Philippians 4:4-9)

4.To offer an instructional program that meets the academic needs of children; to provide an academic foundation for students preparing for college. (II Timothy 2:15)

5.To develop an understanding of the world in which they live and the ability to appreciate and adjust to their environment. (I Thessalonians 3:12-13)

6.To achieve mastery in the tools of learning and communication in a Christ centered, rather than child centered education environment. (Ephesians 3:9)

7.To develop a sense of responsibility in each child as a citizen and a Christian. (Romans 13:1-7)

8.To develop a moral, ethical, and spiritual sense which will aid them in appreciation of their own personal worth and that of others. (I Timothy 4:12)

9.To offer opportunities to participate in wholesome forms of recreation. (I Corinthians 9:24)

10.To prepare each child for an outstanding position in life; to prepare for spiritual leadership in school, home, community, state, nation and the world. (Proverbs 4:7-8)

Core Values

The following are expressions of biblical principles that guide everything we do:

1.Integrity – Honoring God in our Nature (uprightness in character). Proverbs 20:7

2.Servanthood – Honoring God in our Calling (committed to serving others). Mark 10:45; Philippians 2:5

3.Excellence – Honoring God in our Work (superior, high quality work). Colossians 3:23; Eccl. 9:10

4.Progress – Valuing People in our Motivation (seeking to advance people to their God-given capabilities). Philippians 2:3

5.Respect – Valuing People in our Relationships (holding others in high regard). Romans 12:10

6.Love – Valuing People in our Choices (tenderhearted, unselfish interest in the welfare of others). John 3:16; John 13:34

Calvary Christian School is an intergral part of Calvary Baptist Church. The philosophy and direction of the school is provided by the church. The pastor of the church, John McDonald, is the Administrator of the school. The school principal is on the church pastoral staff and functions under the pastoral leadership.

God has greatly blessed the ministry of Calvary Christian School and we thank Him for allowing us the privilege these past 29 years to be involved in the education of young people for the Glory of God.

Program

Attendance at this school is a privilege and not a right. OUR GOAL is to train Christian youth of every ability in the higher principles of Christian leadership, self-discipline, individual responsibility, personal integrity and good citizenship. As a student of Calvary Christian School (CCS) students are expected to follow the rules that are established for the welfare of the entire student body. They are to be proud of our school and take care of it.

Kindergarten is a time to enjoy and to lay a foundation for future learning - all in a warm Christian environment. Not a baby-sitting service, but a delightful learning experience.

CCS is open to all academically qualified students without regard to race, color, sex or national origin. However, the administration does reserve the right to refuse anyone admittance who it feels is not in agreement with the Scriptural principles held by Calvary Baptist Church.

While in compliance with all state educational requirements for advancement and graduation, CCS is not accredited or approved by the State of Colorado nor do we seek such accreditation or approval.

We use the tried and true A Beka curriculum in all of our classes.

Policies

Calvary Christian School as an educational institution is an integral part of the multifaceted ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. We consider CCS to be a ministry of the church to the home.

In an effort to be thoroughly Christian, CCS believes that all subjects should be taught in the light of the Scriptures in keeping with the verse, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” (Proverbs 1:7)

CCS has established biblical standards of conduct to provide an environment conductive to the spiritual growth and development of Christian young people. Although obedience to rules does not make one spiritual, the spiritually sincere person will desire to live by biblical standards.

Personnel

At CCS teaching is viewed as a ministry; not just a job. As a result, our teachers take a special interest in the needs of individual students and strive to help each one reach their full potential in Christ.

The staff and faculty of Calvary Christian School are well qualified both spiritually and academically to meet the needs of our students. Our emphasis is on excellence in academics as well as Christian values.

In a process of continued development our staff pursues the highest level of competence in their field. A commitment to excellence and a desire to serve equips them to deal with your child’s educational needs.
